Herstory Lessons shares lives of women who have made an impact in history. The inspiring stories of Dolores Huerta, Judith Heumann, Dorothy Butler Gilliam, Dorothy Irene Height, Anuradha Bhagwati, and Heather "Lucky" Penney, presented in 6 episodes. Every frame was crafted to educate, inspire, and celebrate their history.

Here you can see selected moments from episodes and give them a closer look. Our goal was to transform words and emotions of our heroines into animation using symbolism, various color palettes, and stylized typography.
Character design
During the visual development of the Herstory Lessons series our creative team focused on the main female characters and the impact they have had on women's standing in the modern world.
Mixed media design
For the Dorothy Irene Height episode we went with a mixed media approach to visually narrate the story; blending photography, newspaper clippings, and hand-drawn elements for a rich, layered composition. We used a combination of various textures, botanical elements, halftone patterns, and bold typography to give it a timeless feel.
Storyboards
The first thing we did was to carefully study each of the scripts, to get the most out of each woman's story. That allowed us to to come up with detailed storyboards that show all the great achievements of the main characters.
Making of
Since the focus of this video series is on the characters, animating them well was crucial to bring the story to life. The design and movement of each character were carefully crafted to ensure they conveyed the right emotions and narrative using MOHO.
Since we also specialize in 3D modeling, texturing, and animation, we wanted to implement it in this project as well and used Blender for parts of the animation.
